Job Summary

Kforce is seeking a Controller for a client in New York City, NY. This role offers significant career growth and challenge, reporting to the CFO. The Controller will oversee and develop all accounting functions, including financial reporting, AP, AR, and payroll, leading a small, talented staff. Responsibilities also include regulatory reporting, tax planning, internal control evaluation, and managing the annual external audit process.

Must Have

  • Lead and develop accounting functions (financial statements, management reports, AP, AR, payroll)
  • Oversee regulatory reporting including tax planning and compliance
  • Evaluate internal control systems and environment
  • Lead the annual external audit process
  • Oversee payroll payments across multiple locations/countries
  • Coordinate with HR on payroll changes
  • Work with external vendors on benefits and other withholdings
  • Prepare payroll tax filings across multiple locations/countries
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 8+ years of related accounting management experience
  • Experience running accounting and payroll functions in a corporate environment
  • Working knowledge of GAAP/technical accounting issues-U.S. and international
  • Strong understanding of banking processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with ADP and NetSuite (or similar financial/payroll systems)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Superior organizational solid time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and wear many hats

In this role, you will have the ground floor opportunity to become an important part of the leadership team. You will be reporting to the CFO, you will oversee and develop all accounting functions, including financial reporting, AP, AR, and payroll functions. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a small, talented staff in all accounting functions including preparing financial statements and management reports
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting including tax planning and compliance
  • Evaluating internal control systems and environment
  • Leading the annual external audit process
  • Overseeing payroll payments across multiple locations/countries
  • Coordinating with HR on payroll changes (new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonus payments)
  • Working with external vendors on benefits and other withholdings and completing necessary reconciliations
  • Preparing payroll tax filings across multiple locations/countries

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred
  • CPA certification preferred
  • 8+ years of related accounting management experience
  • Experience running accounting and payroll functions in a corporate environment
  • Working knowledge of GAAP/technical accounting issues-U.S. and international
  • Strong understanding of banking processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ADP and NetSuite (or similar financial/payroll systems)
  • Excellent communication skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
